Nestled in the laps of the Himalayas, Uttrakhand is also known as “Devbhoomi,” which means land of Gods. Garhwal and Kumaon are the two subregions of the Uttrakhand.

A visit to any of these regions will leave you astonished. Surrounded by sun-capped mountains, beautiful Himalayas, glaciers, streaming rivers, lakes, blooming meadows, these are the reason why God has chosen this place as his abode. There are so many breathtaking places in Uttrakhand to visit. This article focuses on the places present in the Gadwal region.

Garhwal region is also known as “the heart of Uttrakhand,” consists of 7 districts. The place is the source of two sacred rivers, the Ganga and Yamuna. It is a well-known pilgrimage destination because of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamnotri. Besides these, the place also has various picturesque spots where one can enjoy his time with nature and god. If you are a mountain lover, loves adventure, and ready to trek to the heights of the Himalayas, then Uttrakhand is the actual destination.

Dehradun

Surrounded by the Doon valley and Ganga river flowing on the other side, Dehradun is the capital of Uttrakhand. It is one of the famous attractions of the state where one can enjoy the views of the mountains of Mussoorie. The capital will serve as the gateway to the many hill stations where you can visit Forest Research Institute, Robber’s cave, Shahastradhara, Buddha Temple, etc. one can cover all the places in a day.

Mussoorie

“Queen of hills,” Mussoorie is one of Uttrakhand’s most popular and most visited hill stations. The place experiences a cold climate throughout the year and is situated in a peaceful location. In one day you can plan to visit Kempty falls, company Garden, Lal Tibba and Mall road.

Dhanoulti

Situated 24 km from Mussoorie, Dhanoulti is a magnificent hill station. It is far away from any commotion and set in a tranquil location in the foothills of Garhwal Himalaya; the place is worth visiting for one day.

Rishikesh

Situated on the banks of Ganga, the city is famous as the Yoga city or Yoga capital of India. Along with immense positivity and spirituality, one can also experience various adventure activities in the city, such as river rafting and camping, bungee jumping, etc. You can visit the place in one day, but it might take one more day if you are planning for some adventures.

Haridwar

Do not miss taking a dip in the holy Ganga in Haridwar. You can always find this place filled with western spiritual seekers and people who come to meditate and to learn about the Hindu cultures. The area is famous for the Kumbh Mela that takes place every 12 years. All the famous sites of Haridwar can be easily covered in a day, and one can take the blessings of Ganga by attending the Ganga Aarti at the end of the day.

Devprayag

A small town situated 72 km from Rishikesh, and the journey itself encompasses scenic views. Devprayag is known as the birthplace of Ganga. As the two rivers, Alaknanda and Bhagirathi, meets and forms Ganga.
